Windows will get mad at you and put up a nice error message if you get the path wrong. Direct your web browser to then select the option to start ASDM as a Java Web Start application. You can now delete the old icon that starts ASDM as a local application, since it will no longer work. This will create an ASDM shortcut in your desktop.

Your path may be different depending on if you are on a 64 or 32 bit system, and whether or not you installed it into the same place, note, this was the default that it automatically installed to. In General tab under Temporary Internet Files, click View then select the item with ASDM then click the top row icon that looks like an arrow pointing up and to the right.

Ok, now I have java 1.7.0 Update 45 installed. That is the online installer for java 1.7.0 update 45. Inside of the cab file, there is a jiinstall.exe program. A cab file can easily be opened using windows explorer so no need to get any different tools or utilities. Each one has their own firewall and Ive been able to access all but one of them through the Cisco ASDM-IDM Launcher. I have a support engineer helping me from Cisco. So, my next quest, try and hunt down version 45.
